Function of the Formula:

Strong purges internal heat (colon heat, yang ming fu, wen bing qi stage, large intestine damp heat)

Symptoms that are indicated for this formula:

Severe constipation, hemorrhoids, focal distention, abdominal pain that’s worse with pressure, abdominal fullness, heavy body, mania, convulsions, tidal fever, profuse perspiration from hands and feet, thirst, cold extremities, irritability

Tongue: red, yellow, black or dry

Pulse:  deep, slippery, rapid
